Today' Picture of the Day is the Boone County Courthouse in Burlington. I'm sure everyone who lives in the county knows about this building. We have all made the trip there for one reason or another over the years. Hopefully your trip there was only to renew your driver's license or auto tags, and not something more serious!
The Courthouse is the center of Boone County government. Most of the offices that make the county run are located here or in the immediate area. The courthouse is the centerpiece of downtown Burlington. This version of the Courthouse is much different that that of Courthouses past. The image to the left from the Kenton County Library site shows what the courthouse looked like for many years. This image was taken in 1978, just before a major renovation.
The image on the right shows the Courthouse at its dedication in 1981 after the major renovation. This image of the Courthouse is the more familiar look of the current building. No matter what you do in Boone County, it is very likely you will cross paths with the Courthouse. If you go to the Burlington area, you can't miss it!
