Today's Picture of the Day is the Claxon Fire Station #3 of the Florence Fire Department located at 1152 Weaver Road. This station is the administrative headquarters for the Florence Fire Department. The other Florence Fire stations are located at 7201 Industrial Road and 269 Main Street in Florence.
According to their official website, the Florence Kentucky Fire Department responds to approximately 6,000 fire and
EMS runs annually. The excellent training received by their personnel, along with quick response times and
state-of-the-art emergency equipment, contribute to the
ISO rating of Class III which is reflected in lower fire
insurance premiums for homeowners and businesses in Florence.
The Mission of the Florence Fire and EMS Department is to prevent or reduce injury, loss of life, and loss of property due to fires, explosions, release of hazardous materials, entrapment, and other disastrous occurrences; and to intervene rapidly in the event of medical emergencies, to provide prompt and efficient care, increasing the victim's chances for survival and recovery.
The Fire/EMS Department has 50 paid and 36 volunteer professionals who provide Emergency Medical, Fire and Rescue services within the City as well as the Fire District which extends beyond City limits.
