The Florence Fraternal Order of Police Lodge #33 is asking the Florence community for donations for the 13th annual "Shop with a Cop" Auction on Thursday December 10th, 2009. The auction proceeds raised benefit the Fraternal Order of Police and the charities that it supports. The auction will be held at Shakey’s Pub and Grub on Thursday December
10th. The auction will be hosted by former Cincinnati Bengal Joe Walter.
After the auction, police officers will take needy children from the six elementary schools in Florence to McDonald's for breakfast, and then
to Wal-Mart to do some Christmas shopping. After they shop for themselves or for
their family members, the officers will then take the children to Laser Adventure and let them wrap the
presents and play a little laser tag and miniature golf. The money for all of
this is generated by the auction on Thursday December the
10th.
The Florence FOP donates to the "Shop with a Cop" program, KY Special Olympics, Leukemia Lymphoma Society, Breast Cancer Research, BAWAC, Redwood Rehabilitation, CASA, United Way, Juvenile Diabetes, as well as other local charities and organizations. The merchandise to be auctioned for the "Shop with a Cop" event will be donated by the Florence Business Community.
