On Saturday December 5th, the Boone County Businessmen's Association and the Boone County Jaycees held their annual Community Prayer Breakfast at the Cincinnati Airport Hilton on Turfway Road in Florence. The Prayer Breakfast has been a Boone County tradition for over 30 years. The Prayer Breakfast has always been an event that allowed the community to come together in a spirit of faith and reflect on the true meaning of the Christmas season. Past speakers at the Prayer Breakfast have included Gov. Julian Carroll, UK basketball player Cameron Mills, former Bengals kicker Doug Pelfrey, Gary Greisser, and Roger Bingham of "Survivor" fame.
The emcee for this year's event was Northern Kentucky Chamber of Commerce president Steve Stephens. The featured speaker at this year's breakfast was John D. Russell, the
senior minister at the Lakeside Christian Church. Russell is an
accomplished speaker and the author of "Love God, Love One Another". Florence Mayor Diane Whalen and Boone County Judge Executive Gary Moore were in attendance at the event. The 2009 event was one of the best attended Prayer Breakfasts in the event's history.
