Sub Station II is known for it's fresh sub sandwiches. Their subs are sliced fresh and piled high. Unlike other sandwich shops, their meats are sliced before your eyes and are not pre-packaged and loaded with preservatives. They offer over 30 different sandwiches on the menu. A new eating challenge is becoming legend at the Sub Station II in Florence. The Sub Station II has unleashed "The Monster" on the city. Those who are willing to take the challenge will be given the enormous triple-decker sub. The sub contains multiple meats, cheeses and toppings along with the triple-decker bun. Along with the Monster Sub, you will also be given a pound of french fries and a 32 ounce drink with no ice.To take down the Monster Challenge, you will be consuming nearly 6 pounds of food!

Those who are able to consume the entire plate of food and the drink and "defeat the Monster" in set amount of time will be honored in the shop by having their picture placed on the wall of fame. Winners of the Monster Challenge will also receive a t-shirt indicating that they were able to "Crush the Monster".The Monster Challenge will launch in October and should bring some real excitement to dining on Dream Street. The Monster Sub claims its first victims

The Monster Sub Challenge has gotten underway at the Sub Station II in Florence and has claimed all three of the challengers who have taken it on. The Monster Challenge is the creation of owner Mike Cartuyvelles. The Monster Sub Challenge requires the participant to eat all 7 lbs. of sandwich, fries and a drink with no ice in an hour. If the challenger eats the entire thing, they receive a t-shirt hailing them as the victor and they earn a place in the Sub Station II eating hall of fame. Those who can't defeat the monster also get a t-shirt stating that the were crushed by the Monster.

The first brave soul to take the Monster Challenge was Chris Robinson. Chris gave the challenge a good shot, but was only able to consume 4.5 lbs. of the 7 lb. challenge. Chris will go down in Monster Sub history as the first person brave enough to take on the eating challenge.

The second person to take on the Monster was Ricardo Ramirez. Ricardo is not a big guy and certainly didn't look the part of someone who could take on an eating challenge like this. Ramirez gave the challenge his best shot, but the Monster prevailed again. Though he was defeated by the Monster Sub, Ramirez did manage to eat an extra 1/4 pound of the food than the first challenger did, consuming 4 3/4 lbs. of food.

On Thursday, another brave eater took on the challenge. Brandon Drew was cruising along, consuming the Monster at a good pace, but at the 50 minute mark, he had to throw in the towel. Brandon only managed to take down 4 of the 7 lbs. of food, but he vowed to return to take on the challenge again.

The Monster Challenge has brought a great new way to have some fun on Dream Street. If you think you have what it takes to put away the Monster, stop by the Sub Station and give it a shot. If you've got some friends who think they can put it away, get a group together and take on the challenge to see who can consume the most. The Monster Challenge is destined to become a Florence legend!

Picture of the Day: Florence Eye Catcher of the Month

Today's Picture of the Day is a home at 22 Scott Drive in Florence that was honored by the City of Florence as the Eye Catcher of the Month. The City of Florence created the Eye Catcher of the Month program to recognize properties in the city that were well maintained and to reward them with this recognition. When a property catches the eye of a city Code Enforcer, they will take a photo and honor the property as the Eye Catcher of the Month.

This property on Scott Drive was remodeled by one of Florence Ky Online's site sponsors, Ransdell Contracting. Ransdell Contracting completely changed the look of this house in the heart of Florence. As you can see from this image of the property before the remodeling, Ransdell Contracting moved the gable of the house from over the bedroom windows to over the front door. The team at Ransdell Contracting also replaced the roof, improved the concrete around the home and did work on the deck in the back yard of the house.

A few weeks ago when a few NASCAR Nationwide Series teams were in town at the Kentucky Speedway, one of Florence Ky Online's sponsors had a chance to assist. Apparently the teams from Hendrick Motorsports, Rusty Wallace Inc. and a few others were in need of a Sub Station fix and after a quick web search, located the Sub Station II on Dream Street in Florence from the Florence Ky Online website businesses page. The teams had Mike and the team at Sub Station send their famous subs down to the Speedway to feed the teams. Apparently the Sub Station is not only a popular stop for Florence natives, but is a must-have for the NASCAR Nation as well. Way to go Mike!
