The City of Florence will be holding its annual Martin Luther King Jr. Program on Monday, January 18, 2010. The program will be held at the Florence Government Center on Ewing Blvd. and will begin at 3:00 PM. The city will acknowledge Dr. King's accomplishments as a civil rights leader and social activist.
The Martin Luther King Day Program in Florence will include a welcome and a history of the holiday presented by Florence Mayor Diane Whalen. There will be a reading of the famous "I Have A Dream" speech by Bishop Nerrick L. Jackson. Music will be provided by the Grace of God Ministries Choir. There will be a Freedom March around the Florence Government Center Campus with a ringing of the Florence Freedom Bell by Mayor DIane Whalen and Bishop Jackson. There will be displays available for viewing from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM in the lobby of the Florence Government Center.
